Zarxio Vial is a man-made version of a certain natural substance made in your body. It is used to help your body make more white blood cells. White blood cells are important to help you fight off infections. Zarxio Vial is given to people whose ability to make white blood cells is reduced (for instance, due to chemotherapy, chronic neutropenia, or exposure to large amounts of radiation). It is also used in certain treatment procedures (such as bone marrow/stem cell transplant).

Zarxio Vial products are also used to help increase the number of white blood cells, and decrease the length of time with fever in people with acute myeloid leukemia (AML; a type of cancer of the white blood cells) who are receiving treatment with chemotherapy medications. Zarxio Vial products are also used in people who are undergoing bone marrow transplants, in people who have severe chronic neutropenia (condition in which there are a low number of neutrophils in the blood), and to prepare the blood for leukapheresis (a treatment in which certain blood cells are removed from the body. Zarxio Vial (Neupogen) is also used to increase the chance of survival in people who have been exposed to harmful amounts of radiation, which can cause severe and life-threatening damage to your bone marrow
